Sarmite is a senior associate with seven years’ legal experience who focuses on competition law and EU law. She has vast experience in the application of EU law and has been involved in preparing various opinions, studies and policy planning documents. She has in-depth knowledge of state aid issues, helps clients identify opportunities and risks associated with the conditions for obtaining finance from EU funds, assists in communication with government agencies, and provides assessments of the impact of state aid on competition.
Before joining PwC Legal, Sarmite spent six years in the public sector working at the Finance Ministry’s Department for State Aid Control, drafting laws and regulations, taking part in preliminary assessments of proposed state aid programmes, providing opinions and obtaining approvals from the European Commission.
Sarmite holds a professional Master’s degree in law from the Faculty of Law of Riga Stradins University.
